Buying a ring as a surprise? A few ways to estimate without giving it away:

  • Borrow a ring they already wear on that finger and measure its inside diameter in millimeters — the most reliable trick.
  • Ask a close friend or family member who might quietly know their size.
  • If you have nothing to go on, women’s rings most often land around a US 6–7 — a reasonable midpoint to start from.

If the guess is off, it’s an easy fix — you can swap it. See Can I exchange my ring or necklace for a different size?
