Every Stylr piece is built the same honest way: 18k gold PVD plating over a 316L surgical stainless steel core. We’ll always tell you exactly what’s under the gold.
What that actually means
- 316L surgical stainless steel core — the same grade of steel used in body-piercing jewelry. It’s what lets a piece survive showers, workouts, and years of daily wear without rusting.
- 18k gold PVD plating — PVD (physical vapor deposition) bonds the gold tone to the steel at a molecular level. It’s far more durable than ordinary electroplating, so the color doesn’t wear off in a few weeks.
It is not solid gold, and we’ll never pretend it is — the steel core is exactly why it holds up to real life.
Is it hypoallergenic?
Yes, it’s hypoallergenic — but not “nickel-free.” 316L contains a small amount of nickel by composition; what matters is that the nickel is bound in the steel and releases at very low levels, well within the EU REACH limit, so it rarely causes a reaction. Waterproof and tarnish-free
Because the core is stainless steel and the gold tone is PVD-bonded, Stylr pieces are waterproof and won’t tarnish. You can read how to get the longest life out of them in Caring for your Stylr jewelry.
